Went to Lafayette for the weekend and found out about a great new shop headed to the area! If you're okay with "digging" for sales and designer clothes for a super duper discount, the you'll love this place.
Many of you might know about Plato's Closet (the resale "teen" shop with locations in Baton Rouge and Lafayette). If you do, then you know that there are sometimes some great finds in there, but you have to dig through 5,000 cartoon tees to find them. I went this weekend with my little sister so that she could find a few things for school. She walked out with 6 items for a grand total of $19....And, I have to say, I actually found a great pair of shoes that I couldn't live without (Steve Madden 1 inch wedge sandals, red, adorable!) for the low, low price of $10 bucks. But, for those of us who have to dress for the professional world, we might desire a different shop. Enter..... Clothes Mentor.
This is the new venture from the makers of Plato's--but for women in the "corporate" world that want to look great in designer digs for 70% off the retail price. Opening in August, the shop will be right next door to Plato's (across from Old Navy at the side entrance to Mall of Acadiana).
They will buy and sell items from places like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic (yay!), Gap, Talbots, Chico's, and more. AND--they will have designer bags from all the greats... Coach, Louis Vuitton, and others! "Heaven" for people like me who change their mind about clothes in their closet every 1.5 seconds---now, when I visit Lafayette, I can get rid of a few things that I don't necessarily wear and grab a few "new," fun pieces without breaking the bank.
